March Cub Scout Courier is on it's way!

Keep an eye on your mailboxes this week as the newest edition of the Cub Scout Courier will be put in the mail mid week!  Don't forget...if you'd like this emailed to you, please contact Ryan at evannpd@charter.net and he can make that happen! 

Make sure those derby cars are being worked on!  March is sure to fly by fast and time will run out quickly!  Remember to find the official rules under our pinewood derby link to the left. 

COLLECT THOSE CANS!!!!  We've only had 1 family turn in cans so far!  Please remember to turn them in so we can start saving money for camp cash!  Bring them to any den meeting or pack meeting and we'll be happy to turn them in! 

District Pinewood Derby Info In!!!

We all know (hopefully!) that our pack is running our pinewood derby on March 24.  If your son has his car done sooner (because they should all be started by now, right?!) he has the chance to "test run" it at the Massasoit District Pinewood Derby.  This is an event sponsored by our council to get the boys in our district together and have some fun!!!  This event will be held on...

1-4pm (check in starts at 1, races begin at 1:30)

Cost is $5 per car (this includes a patch!)

Being held at the East Brookfield Elementary School (on Rt. 9)

Each race is made up of boys of the same rank, so bears race bears, tigers race tigers, etc.  Trophies are given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each rank.  The fastest time overall gets the right to take home the HUGE district trophy!!!  We had this trophy 3 years ago....time to win it back!!!  It's a great way to have some extra pinewood fun and also a good way to test your sons car.  If he finds that it doesn't go well during the district races, he has time to tweak it before the Pack 118 race.  All district race rules are the same as ours which can be found at the link to the right.  They will have a small concession stand with refreshments for sale. Can "Camp"aign underway!!

With Summer camp approaching fast, we've decided to try a new fundraiser.  From now until April 13th (which is our Cake Bake) we'll be collecting returnable cans and bottles to put toward our campership fund.  Please bring any item that has a MA deposit to your next den meetings or even to our next pack meeting.  We'll turn them in and put the money in our camp account.  All the money raised will go directly toward prizes in our essay contest.  Information on that contest will be going out soon!  Please rinse the cans/bottles out and remove any caps.  Spread the word!  Tell your family, friends, coworkers, etc!  The more returnables we collect, the more money we can offer to our campers!  Thank you!!!

Blue and Gold a HUGE Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Blue and Gold Banquet last night!  This was, by far, our most well attended pack meeting yet!  We're so proud of all our scouts and we're glad that their families could be there to help us celebrate!  We can't thank you all enough for all your support!  Again, a thank you to our set up and clean up crew...Doug LaRoche, Annette Larcheveque, Mark Howard, Sheri Osborne (and her mom!), Amy Gray, and Laurie Lapierre.  Even our distinguished guests helped with the clean up, so thank you to John Ebersold, Dave Hardies, and Keith Brown for helping us out!  We hope everyone had a good time!  The centerpieces certainly looked great!

Now that we have that pack meeting over with, it's time to think pinewood derby!!!  This is being held on Saturday, March 24.  Everyone should have received a flyer about that by now.  If you haven't, email Ryan at evannpd@charter.net and let him know.  Starting this week we will have pinewood derby cars available for purchase in the art room during scout meetings for any parent or sibling that would like to build and race a car.  The cost per car is $5.  Stop by and see Amy to get your car. 

All pinewood derby rules are on our "official pinewood derby rules" page to the right of your screen.  Please take a moment and print those out.  Be sure to follow the instructions so your son's car won't be "penalized" come race time.  Any questions, please don't hesitate to email Ryan!  Have fun!!!

Blue and Gold Tomorrow Night!!

With our Blue and Gold banquet tomorrow night, we wanted to offer this friendly and helpful reminder!  Sisters of some of our cubs are involved with Girl Scouts and everyone knows what that means!  COOKIES!!!  Please support the scouting program--both boys and girls!  Girl Scout cookies cost $4 per box and are delicious!  They will have a table set up tomorrow night so be sure to look for them!
